In case you were wondering...

I'm posting here now:

I'm going to see about plumbing it to live journal, but I'm not sure I want to, as I'll then have a diverging source of comments, and not all the posts on the blog are my own. If I can sort it out, I'll be updating more often. :)
How are ya'll doing?

where I've been, and what I'm doing.

I've made a whopping 12 entries since I accepted the job in Cambridge. If you were wondering what I've been up to:
1. Work.
I've been commuting at least 1:30 a way for 8 months, and I still love my job. It's a real challenge and I have to work hard. I enjoy it. The people and the company are a blast. They are smart and they all seem to work hard for the company.

2. Sydney AUS.
I took a three week trip to Sydney for work. It was a very nice city, and I could really enjoy exploring that continent. The people were really friendly, and the food was great.
Here are my pics:
It was a long time to be away from home, and threw off my life for a bit.

3. New House.
We are buying a farm. We are excited to be moving to 4 acres in Pepperel MA. It's 20 minutes further from work, 15 mins to my bro's house. It's going to be amazing, and crazy all at once.
Lots of things to learn, and figure out, but think it will be a great place for us long term.

With that said... I haven't been on here at all. I haven't been reading. I haven't been posting.
I think it's time to call it quits. I'm going to put the lock down on this, and turn the page. I've really enjoyed the people I've met here, and the lives I've had a chance to view from a far. I wish all of you the best.

Code to remember...

Convert a non standard mpeg to mpg4 for ipod video use.
~/Applications/Media/VLC.app/Contents/MacOS/clivlc -I dummy -v "$1" :sout="#transcode{vcodec=mp4v,\
url=$1.mp4}" vlc:quit --sout-transcode-width=640 --sout-transcode-height=480 --aspect-ratio "4:3"

Interesting idea...

Not how I would do it, but the flavors sound very interesting.

For a variation, you could throw in a cup of cooked vegetables left over from Thanksgiving to add texture to this creamy chowder. Serve the soup with chowder crackers, along with a spinach and pear salad. Purchased apple turnovers would make an ideal dessert.

4 bacon slices (about 4 ounces), coarsely chopped
2 cups chopped onions
1 pound russet potatoes, peeled, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
2 cups whole milk
1 cup canned low-salt chicken broth
2/3 cup condensed cream of potato soup (from one 10 3/4-ounce can)
2 tablespoons chopped fresh sage
2 1/2 cups diced cooked turkey
Cook bacon in heavy large saucepan over medium heat until crisp, about 8 minutes. Transfer bacon to paper towels to drain. Pour off all but 2 tablespoons drippings from pan. Increase heat to medium-high, add onions and sauté until tender, about 5 minutes. Mix in potatoes, milk, broth, cream of potato soup, and 1 tablespoon sage. Bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer until potatoes are tender, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Add turkey meat, bacon, and remaining 1 tablespoon sage. Simmer until heated through, stirring occasionally, about 4 minutes. Season to taste with salt and pepper and serve.

Makes 4 servings.

Dear Bestbuy.

Thanks a lot for the cupons*

* not valid for thanks.

If you've never recieved a coupon from best buy, just look at the back.  Basically says it's not valid on anything of value in the store by any manufacturer that you'd want to buy anything from.

Day one of my brand new life

and it rocks!  This place is going to be awsome.  I know it already.  Young, hip, cool.  I feel smarter already.  Someone please tell me why I haven't done this before...
